Synthetic teak deck covering

A beautiful azure-blue sky, balmy sea air… and you’re spending your vacation on deck! That’s not how you’d like your leisure activities to look, and yachting professionals are well aware of this. That’s why they now offer composite solutions that are both aesthetically pleasing and easier to maintain than teak.

By replacing tropical wood with 100% recyclable synthetic teak, these brands offer you an alternative that’s both less expensive and more environmentally friendly. Flexiteek is undoubtedly the world leader in this type of deck covering, but Dek-King, Permateek and Teck-it-easy are also interesting options.

Flexiteek

Creator of the synthetic teak deck covering in 2000, Flexiteek makes your sea escapades moments of intense pleasure. Guaranteed for 5 years, our deck coverings look like real wood. They are available in a wide range of shades: Teak in all stages of aging, Walnut or Customs. The anti-UV coating preserves the original color. When you set foot on the deck, you’ll discover a very soft, high-performance non-slip surface designed to prevent you from falling, even in rough weather.

The latest 2G generation offers optimized thermal qualities for greater comfort in the sun and less weight. Flexiteek is assembled using a thermo-welding technique, making it perfectly waterproof, and the material is then glued in one piece to the boat’s deck. For your comfort, this synthetic teak covering also absorbs up to 11% of noise pollution. The quality of the composite reduces maintenance requirements.

Because it’s waterproof, it’s resistant to stains, reducing deck maintenance to soapy water and elbow grease. A high-pressure cleaner will only be needed after a few years.

Dek-King

The material is a variation on Flexiteek, a brand to which Dek-King pays a royalty to use the patent. This flexible PVC deck covering is UV-stable, slip-resistant and low in flammability.

Its design gives it the appearance of teak. Its resemblance to wood and its color range are, however, less accomplished than Flexiteek. It can also be maintained with non-detergent products and a high-pressure cleaner.

Permateek

This lightweight synthetic teak deck covering is non-slip and non-combustible, with good UV and stain resistance. Its heat-welded construction makes it waterproof, as well as thermally and acoustically insulating. For cleaning, use a high-pressure cleaner. However, the color range is less similar to that of wood.

Teck-it-easy & Isiteek ( Flexiteek)

These PVC coverings are “Do-It-Yourself”: unlike the above-mentioned materials, the slats are assembled one by one by gluing rather than heat-welding, then the panel, once fully assembled, is glued to the deck. Ideal for covering small surfaces, the final result nevertheless depends on your dexterity.

This PVC deck covering, sold in the form of strips to be glued on, is designed to be resistant to UV, stains and the elements. Isiteek decking, developed by the Swedish Flexiteek brand, benefits from the same patent as Flexiteek material.
